MADO Distributes 400 Dignity Kits to Support Women and Girls in Disaster-Affected Rokon Payam, Juba County
Date: 2024-06-08
Between 3 and 6 June 2024, the Modesto Agriculture and Development Organization (MADO) successfully distributed 400 dignity kits to support the reproductive health and dignity of vulnerable women and girls affected by conflict and disaster in Rokon Payam, Juba County.
The distribution directly reached:
• 200 women
• 40 female-headed households
• 10 women with disabilities
• 150 unaccompanied girls
The dignity kits included essential hygiene and menstrual health items such as reusable sanitary pads, underwear, soap, and other personal care supplies, which are critical for maintaining health, safety, and dignity—especially in humanitarian settings where such items are often unavailable.
The initiative was made possible through the generous support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and UNFPA as part of their continued commitment to responding to the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of women and girls in South Sudan.
“MADO is deeply grateful to the IRC and UNFPA for this vital support. These dignity kits provide more than hygiene—they offer protection, confidence, and a sense of normalcy for women and girls living through crisis,” said a MADO spokesperson during the distribution in Rokon.
The intervention forms part of a broader strategy to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) among displaced and disaster-affected populations. MADO reaffirms its commitment to continue working in partnership with IRC and UNFPA to expand access to reproductive health services and uphold the dignity of women and girls across South Sudan.
