Juba, South Sudan – January 18, 2023
Modesto Agriculture and Development Organization (MADO) is proud to announce the enrollment of the first batch of adult learners into its Functional Adult Literacy (FAL) Program in Juba County. The program targets women, men, youth, and persons with disabilities who missed formal education and struggle with reading, writing, and basic math.
Launched in January 2023, the FAL Program provides learners with practical literacy, numeracy, life skills, business management, and hygiene education. It aims to empower marginalized groups with knowledge to enhance livelihoods, decision-making, and community participation.
MADO’s Executive Director, Mr. Simon Gore Kiden, emphasized, “This is not just a learning program—it is a path to dignity, confidence, and self-reliance for adults who have been left behind by traditional systems.”
Classes are held in three temporary learning centers built by MADO, with flexible schedules to accommodate learners’ domestic and work responsibilities. The program is free of charge and includes all learning materials.
MADO calls on partners, government institutions, and donors to support the scale-up of adult education as a foundation for inclusive development in South Sudan.
