MADO Volunteers Conduct Community Sensitization on GBV Prevention in Hai Peace, Gudele 1
Date: 2023-11-08
Juba City Council, South Sudan – November 8, 2023
Modesto Agriculture and Development Organization (MADO) conducted community sensitization sessions on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention in Hai Peace, Gudele 1, led by its trained community volunteers. The sessions aimed to raise awareness on GBV, challenge harmful gender norms, and promote respect, protection, and equality for all, particularly women and girls.
Through dialogue sessions and educational materials, volunteers educated residents on recognizing GBV, survivor support, referral pathways, and the importance of community responsibility in preventing violence. The sessions also encouraged male engagement in ending GBV.
“Ending GBV starts with awareness and collective responsibility,” said one of the lead volunteers.
This initiative is part of MADO’s broader mission to strengthen community protection systems and promote gender equality across Juba City Council and beyond.
