MADO Published a Policy Brief on Disability-Inclusive Humanitarian Action in South Sudan
Date: 2025-09-07
Modesto Agriculture and Development Organization (MADO) is proud to announce the release of its first Policy Brief: “Safeguarding Disability Rights Amid South Sudan’s Catastrophic Humanitarian Crises: A Call To Action For Inclusive Humanitarian Response”, a call to action for humanitarian and development partners to strengthen disability inclusion across South Sudan’s humanitarian response.
The Policy Brief outlines key policy and operational recommendations to ensure that persons with disabilities—often among the most marginalized in crises—are not left behind in humanitarian interventions. It highlights urgent priorities such as:
• Scaling up disability-inclusive social protection and cash assistance
• Ensuring continuity of rehabilitation and assistive technology services
• Embedding inclusion in humanitarian coordination and monitoring systems
• Partnering with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)
MADO calls upon national and international NGOs, donors, UN agencies, and government partners to work collaboratively to advance these recommendations.
“This Policy Brief is a tool for action,” said MADO Executive Director Mr. Labrick Lomoro.
“Inclusion must not be optional. By working together, we can ensure that persons with disabilities are visible, protected, and empowered in South Sudan’s humanitarian and development response.”
